The Frasers strive to keep the peace and thrive in a society that is unknowingly marching towards Revolution. They built a house together at Fraser's Ridge, established on land granted to them by the Crown. they must defend it - not only against external forces, but also against the increasing quarrels and conflicts in the community for which they are responsible. For the Frasers and their immediate family, “home” is therefore more than just a site in which they live, it is the place where they lay the foundations for the rest of their lives.
